Smartlead pricing: is it worth it for a small sales team?

The short answer

Smartlead's Base plan costs $39 a month ($32.50 billed yearly) and Pro costs $94 ($78.30 yearly); Unlimited Smart is $174 ($144.50 yearly) and Unlimited Prime is $379 ($314.60 yearly). Is it worth it? Yes for one rep who sends email only and wants the lowest entry price, and yes for a team of two or three that needs CRM access and API access on Pro. No for a team that needs LinkedIn steps (the plan grid doesn't list LinkedIn) or calling on Base or Pro (call access starts on Unlimited Smart), or one that will outgrow Base's 2,000 stored contacts within months.

What does Smartlead cost?

Prices are from Smartlead's own pricing page, as of October 2026, shown as monthly billing / billed yearly (the page advertises 17% off for yearly billing).

Plan Price Contacts stored Emails a month Notes from the plan grid
Base $39 / $32.50 a month 2,000 6,000 Foundation warmup-pool tier; no CRM access or API
Pro $94 / $78.30 a month 30,000 90,000 Growth warmup-pool tier; CRM access, API and webhooks; private infrastructure as a $39 add-on; client workspaces as a $29 add-on each
Unlimited Smart $174 / $144.50 a month Unlimited 150,000 Premium warmup pool; call access; private email network; private infrastructure as a $39 add-on; client workspaces as a $29 add-on each
Unlimited Prime $379 / $314.60 a month Unlimited 500,000 Everything above, plus 3 SmartServers (private infrastructure) and 3 or more client workspaces included

Our math for the yearly column: Smartlead's page shows the yearly rates rounded, and the exact amounts it computes are $32.50, $78.30, $144.50 and $314.60. According to the pricing page's FAQ, no plan charges per connected mailbox, so adding inboxes doesn't change the bill; every plan starts with a free trial that doesn't ask for a card; and there's no lock-in contract. Each plan also lists a monthly allowance of verified prospect emails, which are Smartlead's own lead-data credits: Base shows 2,000 and Pro 30,000, each marked as a $59-a-month add-on, while Smart's 50,000 and Prime's 170,000 are marked free. Email verification of your own lists is a separate add-on.

What does Smartlead leave out?

  • Mailboxes and domains cost extra. Smartlead sells them through SmartSenders, and the pricing page lists a fresh Google mailbox at $4.50 a month plus $13 a domain a year, with other providers at $3.99 to $5 a month and pre-warmed mailboxes at $9 a month. Other mailbox sources work too; see the cheapest cold email stack.
  • LinkedIn automation. The plan grid we read doesn't list it. Call access is on Smart and Prime, and the pricing page also sells a dialer add-on. If your sequence needs LinkedIn steps, look at a multichannel tool such as lemlist.
  • Lead data. On Base and Pro, the verified prospect emails are a $59-a-month add-on, and Base's allowance is small. A separate finder is covered in the best B2B contact data provider.

How do the contact and send caps work?

Smartlead's FAQ draws a line between two counters: each distinct prospect address you store uses up one slot of your contacts limit, and every message you send, in any campaign, draws on your monthly send allowance. So Base's 2,000 contacts are a stock, and its 6,000 sends are a monthly flow.

Our house setup: 4 inboxes per rep, about 30 sends per inbox a day (our guideline), 21 sending days a month and 5 touches per prospect. That's 504 new prospects and 2,520 emails a month for one rep, and 1,512 prospects and 7,560 emails for three.

Setup Emails vs the plan Months to fill Base's 2,000 contacts Months to fill Pro's 30,000 contacts
1 rep 2,520 of 6,000 (Base) about 4 (2,000 ÷ 504 = 3.97) about 60 (30,000 ÷ 504 = 59.5)
3 reps 7,560 is more than Base's 6,000; fits Pro's 90,000 under 2 about 20 (30,000 ÷ 1,512 = 19.8)

Our math. This assumes you don't remove old contacts; we haven't tested how Smartlead's contact count behaves when you delete or archive leads, so check before you rely on it. One rep stays under the send cap on Base but will need to clear space or move up after about four months. Three reps need Pro on sends alone.

What does it cost for one rep and for three?

Setup Smartlead Per year (our math) lemlist Email Instantly Hypergrowth
1 rep Base $39 / $32.50 $468 / $390 $69 / $55 $97 / $77.60
3 reps Pro $94 / $78.30 $1,128 / $939.60 $69 / $55 $97 / $77.60

Monthly billing / billed yearly, from each vendor's pricing page. For a rep sending only email, Smartlead Base is the cheapest of the three on the plan alone. For three reps the picture flips: lemlist Email's flat $69 undercuts Pro by $25 a month and Instantly Hypergrowth costs $3 more than Pro. Mailboxes and domains are on top for every tool. The three-way comparison is in Instantly vs Smartlead vs lemlist, and our look at the other side is is lemlist worth it. For Instantly's own plans and contact caps, see is Instantly worth it?, and for the full small-team stack see the best cold email software for a small team.

Adding four fresh Google mailboxes through SmartSenders, for one rep, is 4 × $4.50 = $18 a month plus 2 domains (assuming two mailboxes per domain) at $13 a year, or $26 a year (about $2.17 a month): roughly $20 a month on top (our math).

When is Smartlead worth it?

  • You're one rep sending email only. Base is the lowest entry price of the tools we compare, and unlimited accounts means the fifth inbox doesn't raise the plan price.
  • You need CRM access or the API on a small team. Per its plan grid, both start on Pro.
  • You'll run campaigns for several clients. Client workspaces start on Pro as add-ons, and Prime includes 3 or more.

When should you skip each plan?

  • Smartlead overall: skip it if you want LinkedIn and calls inside one sequence. The grid lists call access only from Unlimited Smart, and doesn't list LinkedIn.
  • Base: skip it if you'll upload more than 2,000 contacts in the next few months, or if you need CRM access or API and webhooks. Neither is on Base per the plan grid.
  • Pro: skip it for a single rep who sends under 6,000 emails a month. You'd pay $55 a month more than Base ($94 vs $39).
  • Unlimited Smart and Prime: skip them unless you send above 90,000 emails a month or need call access or a private email network. A small team won't reach 150,000 sends.
  • The email verification add-on: skip it if you already verify with a separate tool; see the best email verification tool.
