How many prospects can one rep start per week on a multichannel cadence?

The short answer

About 40. Start one new batch every Monday on the 14-day, 10-touch sequence (five emails, three calls, two LinkedIn touches) and size the batch to your busiest day, not your weekly average. Because weekly batches stack three email steps on Monday, one rep with 4 inboxes at about 30 cold sends each tops out at about 40 new prospects a week (our math). That puts roughly 80 dials on Tuesday, so block the morning or split the calls. Then pick one tool for the emails and calls, or pair a sequencer with a dialer.

What does the weekly rhythm look like?

The day-by-day table lives in how to structure a sales sequence; here is only what it means for one rep's week. We use the same 10-touch frame across Pipe Playbook (our guideline). The email count and spacing come from Instantly's 2026 benchmark (4 to 7 touches, about 3 to 4 days apart, on Instantly's platform); the three calls come from Cognism's 2024 finding that 3 attempts is optimal, in Cognism's report. Launch each batch on Monday, the day Instantly's report recommends for new sequences, and every call stays Monday to Friday.

  • Monday: emails 1, 3 and 5 go out (this week's, last week's and two weeks ago's batches), plus profile views for the new batch. The tool sends; the rep spends seconds per prospect.
  • Tuesday: calls 1 and 2, the first with a voicemail, the second without. This is the rep's dial block.
  • Thursday: emails 2 and 4. Nothing for the rep to do.
  • Friday: call 3 (voicemail optional) and the no-pitch LinkedIn requests.

After day 14 the prospect leaves the batch. Bring them back with a new reason after a gap you choose (we use 90 days). The email wording lives in the cold email follow-up sequence. This page is about running the sequence every week without dropping balls.

How many new prospects can one rep start each week?

About 40, and the reason is Monday. Every week you launch a new batch, so three batches are in flight at once. On any Monday, this week's batch gets email 1, last week's gets email 3 and the batch from two weeks ago gets email 5. Here is the load for one rep starting 40 a week (our math).

Weekday What lands that day Load for a 40-prospect batch Ceiling
Monday Emails 1, 3 and 5 + profile views 120 sends, 40 views 4 inboxes × about 30 cold sends a day = 120 (our guideline)
Tuesday Calls 1 and 2 80 dials The Bridge Group's 2025 median SDR logs 44 phone activities a day
Thursday Emails 2 and 4 80 sends 120
Friday Call 3 + LinkedIn requests 40 dials, 40 requests 44 phone, 19 LinkedIn a day (median)

Two things jump out:

  • Monday caps the batch. Starting 70 a week would mean 210 sends on Monday, which needs about 7 inboxes at 30 a day. Want a bigger batch? Add inboxes and domains first: see the cheapest cold email stack.
  • Tuesday is a power-dial day. 80 dials is well above the median day. Block the morning for it, or call half the batch on day 1 and the other half on day 2 (Wednesday). Over the week it's 120 dials, about half of the median rep's 220.

LinkedIn fits over the week: 80 touches against a median of 95. Friday's 40 requests are above a median day, so spread them across the week, or keep LinkedIn for your best-fit half.

What do 40 prospects a week yield? On the call side: 120 dials × 16.6% connect × 57% of connects becoming conversations (our math on Cognism's counts) × 4.82% of conversations booking a meeting (Cognism 2024) is about 0.55 meetings a week, or 2 to 3 a month. On the email side, the reply rate is per email sent, so count emails, not prospects: 40 prospects × 5 emails = 200 emails × 3.43% reply rate (Instantly 2026, on Instantly's platform) = about 7 replies, and with our assumption that 1 in 4 replies books, about 1.7 meetings a week. It's the same prospects, so don't add the two as a forecast. Treat them as a planning range and put your own rates into the Pipe Playbook calculator. If your connect rate is the weak link, direct phone numbers move it more than extra dials.

Should you email first or call first?

Email on day 0 and call on day 1 suits most lists: the call can point at a real email. Change the order when the list changes.

Your list Variant What changes

The email days never move. That's the house cadence, and it keeps your sending volume predictable. For the phone-data fix in the third variant, start with how to find a direct phone number. Weighing the two channels against each other? Read cold email vs cold calling.

When does a prospect leave the batch?

The moment they reply, book, say no or ask to be removed. Set your tool so any reply cancels the remaining touches, and stop calling anyone who asks. Calling, texting and recording rules differ by country and state, so check your local rules before you dial. Do the LinkedIn touches by hand. LinkedIn prohibits third-party software that automates activity on its site and can restrict accounts that use it. See how to use AI for LinkedIn outreach without breaking LinkedIn's rules.

Which tool should run it?

Two tools put email, LinkedIn and calls in one sequence. The third option is a dialer next to the sequencer you already pay for. Prices and features as of September 2026, from each vendor's page.

Detail lemlist Multichannel Reply.io Multichannel Dialer + your sequencer (e.g. Aircall)
Price $109 per user a month, or $87 billed annually $89 to $99 per user a month, depending on billing Aircall: price per license on its page, 3-license minimum
Channels in one sequence Email, LinkedIn, built-in call dialer and VoIP integrations Email, LinkedIn, calls and SMS Email in the sequencer; calls in the dialer
Notable 5 senders per user; 14-day free trial Unlimited active contacts and unlimited emails on the plan Professional lists a Power Dialer (up to 1,000 numbers) and voicemail drop

Our pick for 1 to 3 reps: lemlist Multichannel. It keeps the emails and calls in one place, and 5 senders per user covers the 4 inboxes this plan needs. If a tool offers to automate the LinkedIn steps, leave that off. Pick Reply.io if its billing fits you better. Add a separate dialer only if you already own a sequencer you like. Inboxes, domains and data cost extra on every option: see what tools an SDR actually needs. Comparing email sequencers on their own? Read Instantly vs Smartlead vs lemlist.

Frequently asked questions

How many touches should a multichannel cadence have?

Ten over 14 days is our house skeleton: five emails, three calls, two LinkedIn touches. Five emails sits inside Instantly's 4-to-7 range; three calls matches Cognism's optimal attempt count. Past day 14, start a new batch with a new reason rather than adding an eleventh touch.

How many prospects should one rep add each week?

About 40 with 4 inboxes, by our math. Weekly batches put three email steps on Monday, so Monday sends are three times the batch. More inboxes allow a bigger batch.

Why are my Tuesdays so heavy?

Because call 1 for this week's batch and call 2 for last week's both land on Tuesday. Split call 1 across Tuesday and Wednesday if 80 dials in a day is too many.

Do I need LinkedIn in the cadence?

No. It's the optional channel. Keep the request free of pitch, and drop it if you have no time to do it well.

What if I have no phone numbers?

Run the email-plus-LinkedIn variant and fix the data. Mobile numbers got the highest response in Cognism's 2024 data, so it's worth the effort.
