Is UpLead worth it for a small sales team?

The short answer

Yes, if you call prospects and want a verified email and a mobile number for one credit. No, if you only need emails: Hunter's Starter plan is $49 a month for 2,000 credits. UpLead Essentials is $99 a month for 170 credits (about $0.58 a contact), and Plus is $199 for 400. Prices are as of October 2026, from UpLead's pricing page.

What does UpLead cost?

Plan Monthly price Credits a month Extra credits Notes
Free trial $0 5 credits for 7 days n/a
Essentials $99 170 $0.60 each 1 user; $74 a month billed annually
Plus $199 400 $0.50 each Adds enrichment, email pattern intel, technographics, advanced filters and suppression list uploads; $149 a month billed annually
Professional Annual only, custom Custom n/a Adds buyer intent, all filters, the full API and two-way CRM sync

One credit unlocks one contact, with email and mobile direct dial (UpLead's description). Monthly plans have no contract. Its listed integrations cover CRMs such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, Zoho and Dynamics 365, plus sequencers such as Outreach, Salesloft, Woodpecker and lemlist.

Cost per contact (our math): Essentials is $99 ÷ 170, about $0.58 monthly, and about $0.44 billed annually on the 2,040 credits it gives each year. Plus is $199 ÷ 400, about $0.50 monthly, and about $0.37 billed annually on its 4,800 credits a year.

When does Plus beat Essentials?

Above about 337 contacts a month. Below that, Essentials plus extra credits costs less; above it, Plus's flat $199 wins. That's our math: Essentials costs $99 + $0.60 × (contacts − 170), so it passes $199 at roughly 337 contacts.

Our house plan puts one rep at about 504 new prospects a month (4 inboxes × 30 sends × 21 days ÷ 5 touches). If you buy a contact for each one, here is the bill on monthly billing (our math):

Team Contacts a month Essentials plus extras Plus plus extras
1 rep 504 $99 + 334 × $0.60 = $299.40 $199 + 104 × $0.50 = $251.00
3 reps, 3 plans (1 user each) 1,512 3 × ($99 + 334 × $0.60) = $898.20 3 × ($199 + 104 × $0.50) = $753.00

That's about $0.50 a contact on Plus, for one rep or for three. Essentials and Plus are one user per plan, so three reps need three plans. It's an upper bound. You won't buy every prospect, and you can mix sources. See the contact enrichment workflow for a cheaper order of operations.

Why pay for verified contacts at all?

Because bad data costs more than the credit. Lusha's 2026 study of 140,284 US sales leaders found that 12.25% changed jobs within 12 months and 25.67% within 24 (job changes only, not total decay). An older MarketingSherpa estimate quoted on HubSpot's database-decay page (the page gives no date) puts decay at about 22.5% a year, roughly 2.1% a month. In our view, verified lists bounce less, so verify before every send. See should you buy an email list?.

How does it compare with cheaper options?

Option Cost (as of October 2026) What you get Gap
UpLead Essentials $99 a month, 170 credits Email and mobile per credit Most expensive per contact
Hunter Starter $49 a month, $34 billed yearly, 2,000 credits a month Credits for email finding, verification and domain search No phone data listed on its pricing page
Saleshandy Lead Finder Inside plans from $41 a month; Starter has 1,500 credits 1 credit per verified email, 6 per phone, 7 for both (vendor claim: 852M+ contacts) You also pay for the sequencer

Our math: 504 contacts with email and phone cost 7 credits each, 3,528 credits, which is inside Saleshandy Pro's 4,000 credits at $99 a month. Emails only cost 504 credits, inside Starter's 1,500. We haven't compared data accuracy across these tools, so test a sample of 50 contacts from each before you commit. When should you skip each plan?

  • UpLead Essentials: skip it if you only send email and your budget is tight. Hunter costs about half and gives 2,000 credits.
  • UpLead Plus: skip it if you'll buy fewer than about 337 contacts a month. Essentials is cheaper below that.
  • UpLead Professional: skip it unless you need buyer intent or two-way CRM sync and can commit annually. It isn't sold monthly.
  • UpLead overall: skip it if you hope to avoid verifying. Run your own check before sending; see the best email verification tool.
